Description:

Amigrawest 2.5 mg is a prescription oral migraine medicine containing zolmitriptan, a selective serotonin (5ht1) receptor agonist from the triptan class. It is designed for the acute treatment of migraine attacks, with or without aura, by targeting the underlying vascular and neurogenic mechanisms of migraine rather than simply masking pain. Amigrawest helps relieve headache pain and associated migraine symptoms such as nausea, photophobia, and phonophobia, allowing patients to resume daily activities more quickly when taken at the onset of an attack.

Indications:

• Acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults.
• Relief of moderate to severe migraine headache pain.
• Reduction of associated migraine symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light (photophobia), and sensitivity to sound (phonophobia).
• Use only after a clear diagnosis of migraine has been established by a healthcare professional.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

• Use only as directed by your physician and strictly for an established diagnosis of migraine.
• Recommended adult dose: Usually 2.5 mg (one tablet) taken as soon as possible after the onset of a migraine headache. Some patients may respond to a lower or higher dose as advised by their doctor.
• If the migraine improves but then returns, a second dose may be taken, typically at least 2 hours after the first dose, only if recommended by your doctor.

• Swallow the tablet whole with water. It can be taken with or without food; however, onset of action may be slightly delayed if taken with food.

• Contraindicated in uncontrolled hypertension or severe hepatic impairment.
• Do not use if you have known hypersensitivity or allergy to zolmitriptan or any of the product’s components.
• Increased risk of serotonin syndrome when used concomitantly with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (ssri) or serotonin–norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (snri). Monitor for symptoms such as agitation, confusion, rapid heart rate, sweating, muscle rigidity, or tremor.
• Concomitant use with potent cyp1a2 inhibitors (such as cimetidine, some quinolone antibacterials, and other cyp1a2-inhibiting drugs) may increase zolmitriptan concentrations; dose adjustment or special monitoring may be required.
• Do not use within 24 hours of taking another triptan or ergotamine-containing medication due to risk of additive vasoconstriction.
• Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Use only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk.
• Use with caution in patients with risk factors for coronary artery disease (such as diabetes, smoking, hypercholesterolemia, strong family history of heart disease, or postmenopausal women and men over 40 years) and only after cardiovascular evaluation.
• If you experience chest pain, shortness of breath, severe abdominal pain, sudden severe headache, or neurological symptoms (such as weakness, difficulty speaking, or visual changes), seek immediate medical attention and do not take further doses.
• Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without medical supervision.
• Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:

• Common side effects: Dizziness, drowsiness, tingling or numbness, sensation of warmth or heaviness, flushing, dry mouth, nausea, or fatigue. These are usually mild and transient.
• Less common side effects: Palpitations, mild increase in blood pressure, abdominal discomfort, or throat tightness.
• Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention): Chest pain or tightness, shortness of breath, severe or sudden abdominal pain, signs of stroke (sudden weakness, difficulty speaking, vision changes), severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling of face or tongue, difficulty breathing), or symptoms of serotonin syndrome (agitation, confusion, rapid heart rate, fever, muscle stiffness).

Storage Instructions:
